I know that in time
The pieces of life's puzzle will gradually fall into place
I do not know how or when it will unravel
I only hope that I'll discover the answer
Before departing this ephemeral earth.
I do not know if I will be someone great
But if perchance prominence becomes my fate
I will look it straight in the eye
And thank the good Lord
For giving me golden wings to fly.
Her eyes no longer recognize
The faces of familiarity
Her mind is a dead end street to a forgotten past
By the crippling hand of decrepit age
She looks into a blank future with numbness.
SHORE OF REGENERATION
The tides of youth have washed away
In the ocean of maturity
But every so often
An oyster returns
With a pearl of recovered innocence.
TRAJECTORY OF TIME
The windows of the past are bolted shut
Like the ancient tomb of King Tut
Moments of malady are tightly bound
In a place where they cannot breathe a sound
Because yesterday has ended
Today can finally be amended.
QUEST OF TRIUMPH
I almost closed the door on my dreams
Because of ignorance and rejection
But then one day,
It bounced back in my corner
So I grabbed the ball
And scored the winning shot of victory.
The road is never the same from day to day
It changes course in the blink of any eye
And if you're unprepared to alter lanes
You may find yourself in the middle of a tangle
But if you know how to loosen this tethered tyrant
You'll travel a lot faster
Than if you had tightened the reigns of rigidity.
